I’M LATE

I’m late, l’m late,

For a very important mate,

I know you’ll roll your eyes and sigh,

Again my schedule’s gone awry,

I can’t get over how time flies,

I’m late, I’m late, I’m late.

My trait – innate,

Makes others so irate,

It’s not my fault that friends dropped by,

I had to say ‘Hello’ and ‘Hi’,

I’m a well-known social butterfly,

I’m late, I’m late, I’m late.

Not great – your wait,

The havoc I create,

We’d planned to meet at a place nearby,

‘Not again!’ I hear you cry,

My tardiness has multiplied,

I’m late, I’m late, I’m late.

Our date – at eight,

I’m sending an update,

I’m not on time, I won’t deny,

Thought I’d make it, just scrape by,

Despite the effort I’ve applied,

I’m late, I’m late, I’m late.

I’m in – a state,

You’ve gone, you didn’t wait,

I’m not sure what this signifies,

You always swallow my feeble lies,

I’m scanning every passer-by,

But you’re not here, I’m mystified,

I’m out of breath, my mouth is dry,

I bust a gut, I really tried,

You flake, You Flake, YOU FLAKE!

TOO LATE

I did – not wait,

This time you were too late,

I’m fed up with your feeble lies,

The weak excuses you supply,

I greet your delays with a weary sigh,

You’re late, you’re late, you’re late.

The piss – you take,

Get a grip for goodness sake,

My patience gone, curled up and died,

Don’t look at me with fake surprise,

You’re a pain in the arse - open your eyes!

You’re late, You’re late, You’re late.

I will – not wait,

For years we’ve been good mates,

You will turn up, in the by and by,

And think that I’ll be gratified,

But this time I won’t hear your lies,

Your hectic day, and how time flies,

I’ll give you a call in the by and by,

See you around - butterfly!

Too late, my mate, too late.
