A Mathematics INSET, based on the newly published book ‘101’ by Sarah Ogilvie

Children find the true story of Carl and his beautiful solution to a maths problem inspiring and motivating.  It is an ideal starting point for a wide ranging maths investigation which suits children working at every achievement level from Year 4 upwards.  Many elements of the lesson can easily be tailored to suit younger children.  The tale of Carl is currently being developed as an illustrated book – a rhyming, humorous story with characters that children will immediately identify with, and of course it is a story with maths at its heart.

‘101’ was published in September 2024 and INSETS are available from October.
