THE DAY MY FACE EXPLODED

There was a time when I embraced

A pumped up, sculpted, plastic face,

And at that time, proud to flout

A plumped up, puffed up fishy pout,

A four hour flight and teeth restyled,

A trumped up, glued-on startling smile.

And then my world imploded,

My confidence eroded,

For months I’d been spring-loaded,

And my full up face exploded.

My gums screamed ‘Overloaded!’

The day my face exploded,

An ominous creak of dental crowns,

Then fourteen fangs came tumbling down,

A mouth once home to impossible teeth,

Now showed the stumps that lay beneath.

My skin screeched ‘I’ve unloaded!’

The day my face exploded,

I’ve had enough, I’m fit to burst,

I’m baling out, I’m in reverse,

Fillers of a full-up face,

Now pooled upon the pillow case.

My lips shrieked ‘We’ve offloaded!’

The day my face exploded,

We didn’t want the mouth of a fish,

Take more care for what you wish,

Shrinking, withering trouty lips,

Festooned with slimy silicone drips.

I aimed to look fantastic,

But chose a course too drastic,

And I’m not enthusiastic

For a face that looks like plastic.

For months I’d been spring-loaded,

My looks are now corroded,

My gums screamed ‘Overloaded!’

My savings are eroded,

My skin screeched ‘I’ve unloaded!’

My life has now imploded,

My lips shrieked ‘We’ve offloaded!’

And my face has now exploded.
